A free, privacy-focused public DNS resolver run by a Swiss non-profit, blocking malicious domains by default.

Quad9 is a free recursive DNS resolver operated by the Quad9 Foundation, a non-profit headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland (hosted with SWITCH). It serves users worldwide who want a secure, privacy-respecting resolver.

Quad9 blocks access to known malicious and phishing domains using threat intelligence, does not log or sell personal data, and supports DNS over HTTPS and DNS over TLS. Operating under Switzerland's strong data-protection law, it is a privacy-first European alternative to Google Public DNS and Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1.
