BeReal is a photo-sharing social network created by BeReal, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Paris, France. It is designed around authenticity: once a day, at a random time, every user gets a notification and has two minutes to capture and share a candid photo.
BeReal photos use both front and rear cameras at once, have no filters, likes or follower counts, and are meant to show real, in-the-moment life rather than a curated feed. As a French-headquartered app, it is a refreshing European alternative to US photo-sharing networks such as Instagram and Snapchat.
